Kill Team Prurient

Greetings Sinners!
Just when I thought that I had finished with 40k, those tricksy, sneaky, double-dealing rascals at Games Workshop lure me back in with Kill Team.
I'll be popping over to Element Games tomorrow to pick up my boxed set and join in the fun event that they're holding for people to get the hang of the game. I've had a brief look at the rules for Chaos kill Teams and have taken a break from terrain building and have spent the day re-equipping Squad Prurient with a powerfist, plasma pistol and Plasma Gun. The only heavy weapon available to Chaos Marines is the humble Heavy Bolter. After spending way too long looking for one, I've decided to use their Blastmaster as a counts as Slaaneshi Heavy Bolter.
I'm not too sure on the points cost of anything so Kill Team Prurient have brought along some cannon fodder Cultists to make up the numbers.

I'm hopeful that Kill Team will prove to be very popular on the tournament circuit and I feel sure that there'll be plenty of events springing up in the not too distant future. The scale of 8th edition (as well as the length of time it takes to play a game) holds no appeal for me at the moment whereas Kill Team feels like 40k is going back to its roots. Rob is interested as well so I'm sure we'll be getting plenty of games in in between Necromunda and I'm already toying with a narrative campaign called 'Nestor: The Early Years.'
So tomorrow the Castigators will return from their self-imposed exile and I can once again enjoy the experience of the humble Chaos Marine being a valid choice in the game again.

Until next time......may Our Lady grant you her number 😉

It is always with pleasure that I see your Marines of the Castigator, I was intrigued when I saw them on a distant WD Italy! Kill Team, on the other hand, seems to be interesting and promising, we'll see where it goes ... (Six cultists, huh? Bravo! 😁)

    1. Cheers Marco.
I don't know how many Cultists I will be able to fit in a 100pts until I look at the points for the plasma gunner, but 6 seemed an appropriate number for some reason ;-)

  2. Looking good! As I understand it, in KT you have a sort of "pool" of up to 20 Models, with no limits on Points costs or anything, and then for each individual Game, you select up to 100 Points worth of dudes from that pool. So you can basically make as many as you get inspiration for! Atia's example CSM Team had 4 actual Chaos Marines (including a Champ and Gunner) and 9 Culties (including a Gunner), so I kind of doubt you'll fit 6 of each into 100 Points. but I guess we'll find out later today!

    1. I used 5 marines and 6 cultists. The marines had a plasma gunner sniper, a heavy bolter gunner heavy and a champ with a plasma pistol and power fist.
I played a couple of games against grey knights...ouch! Every time I got within 12" he used psy-bolt to mortal wound me and then shot me off the table. I'm struggling to come up with an effective strategy against 5 psykers .

    2. Ouch indeed! GW has pretty much always struggled with balancing Grey Knights, and they tend to be under-powered in full 40K, but over-powered in smaller settings.

  3. So it turns out that a Kill Team can only use one psychic power per turn (it's always a good idea to read the rules properly....D'oh!). That makes them much more balanced.

  4. Deathwatch for me. I've had a box plus some extras lying around for ages. Plus, there's some Intercessors and Reivers waiting for paint.

    1. The Imperial Marines seem to have a lot more options compared to the other kill teams, but I'm still struggling to overcome the Marine proportions issue.....although I was very tempted to buy a box of Thousand Sons and some Tzaangors, but fate intervened (they didn't have any Tzaangors at Element games) and my faith held....just.
I might look at the Ad-Mech or Genestealer Cult.....although I've always had a soft spot for the Dark Eldar......and the Orks are not without their charm.....of course what I'm really waiting for is the Emperors Children kill team (with Codex and new scaled models!)....or the Rogue Trader kill team.....or an Inquisition kill team.....or a Sisters of Battle Kill team....or a ....well, you get the idea.
