Festus imprisoned

When he regained conciousness Festus  found himself completely immobile and everything was in darkness, even his enhanced senses couldn't pick up the slightest noise. All he was aware of and all he had to focus on was the intense burning as though he were being roasted alive.....

Nestor circled round his adversary drawing immense satisfaction from the futile wriggling of the Deathguard worm dangling at the end of his line. A pleasure only slightly diminished by the repugnant stench of slowly searing rotten meat.

With Festus residing at the pleasure of the castigators and a scenario in the offing for his rescue I decided a bespoke objective was in order.

I originally imagined Festus shackled to an operating table surrounded by all manner of weird surgical implements. When I realised how much green stuffing  that was going to require I decided to scale down my aspirations.

I used an old Goliath ganger model as a base with ork arms and zombie hands along with a few other bits.

the cable binding him was made by twisting some wire tightly using a pair of pliers and a hand drill.

I cut the torso just below the belt, the legs off just above the knee and at the hip These were then extended and repositioned with green stuff to fit around a short section of aluminium tube.

sounds simple but its fiddly as hell and requires considerable trimming and copious amounts of super glue, some of which was used to repair my fingers!

the hooked bars he hangs from are from an elf banner and were added as an after thought to make the models position make more sense.

The Sense deprivation helmet is a Guard search light that happens to fit over the head and is removable (its mainly there to save Nestor having to look upon Festus foul visage).

I topped it of with an inverted tank driver torso and a suitable leering daemonic face from a defiler.

For the painting I  tried out some source lighting effects coming from the heat exchangers in the gaps in the floor, just a simple dry-brush around the cog, base of the pole, on the shins, soles of his feet and tips of his fingers. I added some line highlights to the cog to enhance its sharp edges.

There is another game to play before we get the the big finale but this will add a little more incentive for the raiding party to up their game!

  1. Oh wow! That is ace Rob. Nestor is jumping up and down with giddy excitement screaming "Can I keep him, can I?"
"No my Lord" replies Lucian, "I have plans for our noisome guest....but I promise you'll enjoy him all the more when I've finished with him."

  2. In a pita bread with salad and chilli sauce perhaps?

  3. Looks ace Rob. Will look really good on the zone mortalis board you both made.

  4. Awesome job with that. It just looks perfect.

Wonderful! Really nice. I'm tempted to make my own version with a nice marine loyalist imprisoned:-). Tosis Mire will save "his" Lord or will give vent to his desire for power? ... May the Gods favour the faithful!

  6. Thanks for the kind comments:-)

The loyalist marine is a nice idea I can imagine one of the emporors lapdogs howling as he turns, accompanied by the sizzling sound of burning hair!

  7. Very nice Rob, I really love your sense of imagination and how your conversions inspire other people.
    Keep up the excellent work.

  8. Thanks, I'm just happy to get back to having fun with the hobby. It's been a while since I started a project for that reason alone.
