House Escher Ambot

Rumours that the Voodoo Dolls have taken delivery of a Luther Pattern Excavation Automata were confirmed recently when excavation work started on the border of Stranglevine Creek and Grubbers' Heights. Locals reported seeing an Ambot at all three excavation sites along the border, the Herald has discovered that the three sites are named Tom , Dick and Harry. Just what the Voodoo Dolls are digging for remains a mystery and the gang was unavailable to comment.

Greetings Sinners!
I finally got around to painting up an Ambot for my Escher gang. As soon as I saw the model I decided that I wanted to paint it in JCB colours although I have since been told that it looks more like Bumblebee 😃

The box comes with two identical sprues and each sprue makse an Ambot. Each sprue also contains a different set of legs, so expect to see some weird walker type abomination in the future 😉

The model has a surprising amount of detail on it and some nice flat surfaces to add gang tags. I've added some tags but purposely left some spaces 'bare' so that I can add kill markings or accolades for future endeavours! 👿
The Ambot is one of the largest models in Necromunda (at the moment) but it's still pretty small compared to what 40k can bring to the table. Of course size isn't everything and I'm sure the Voodoo Dolls will make good use of it in the near future....

Until next time.....may Our Lady grant you her number! 😉

The Ambot is a fantastic miniature, I've assembled a pair for my AdMech and I loved them right away.
With what advances you can indulge in a thousand projects. 😊
All that remains is to see it in action ...
Very good for these chronicles, I find the idea of the newspaper simply brilliant!

    1. Cheers mate 😁
Necromunda really suits my eclectic hobby nature. It's so easy to switch from one project to another when each project is just one model.
Hopefully, the Ambot will be making an appearance soon...although I suspect Rob won't be quite as keen on the idea 😉

  2. Lovely mini and great paintjob, yes a lot like Bumblebee but probably bee-cause of the insectoid face too. I'm wanting some Ambots as Kastelan robots for my AdMech and I can see people using them as Obliterators especially for Khorne aligned or Iron Warriors definitely.

    1. Thanks Siph.
I can see the Admech making use of them but they look a bit too automated to be Obliterators for my tastes...then again I think the new Obliterators are pretty much spot on 😉

  3. I've been wanting to pick up one just to paint. I'm not currently playing Necromunda, but the temptation to get this model is very real.

Nice work on painting up yours. Nice touch with the freehand to add some great details.

It's a fun model to paint and reasonably priced too. In the game they're pretty tough but they're also easy to neutralise because of the pinning rules.
I cannot recommend Necromunda enough (especially now they have released the two books) and I wish that kill team had used the same ruleset instead of the weird I go, you react, I finish my turn ruleset that feels so counterintuitive to me 🙃

    2. It's not for lack of interest in the game that I haven't played; just finding someone else interested is challenging lately.

I haven't played KT either. Rules aside, I'd rather jump to Necromunda anyway if I'm going skirmish game. I still think KT is just 40K-lite instead of a something substantial like Necromunda.

    3. I understand that problem, if it wasn't for Rob I would still be trying to convince myself that 8th was fun or I would have given up on the hobby.

Kill Team isn't a bad skirmish game, it's just that it's half Necromunda and half 40k. Some of the rules are simplified Necromunda rules (and work better) but the turn sequence is really off-putting for me....probably because I like 'Munda's alternate activation and it is so elegant in its simplicity while offering great tactical play.
I could see Kill Team offering something for players who are more narrative driven but not quite as much as Necromunda does. Of course, that depends on the player base and from what little I've seen on the forums Kill Team seems to have a more competitive mindset than 'Munda does.

  5. Oh man, this is a great paint-job. Just the right balance between crisp and grubby for me.

    1. Thank you.
I wasn't sure if I'd overdone it with the grubbyness, it's so easy to overdo it but I'm pretty pleased with it overall :D

    2. Personally I'm not so keen, fairly sure how it goes is accompanied by a sickening grinding of furnace plate!

  7. That came out really well, I am a fan for sure. The wear on the model looks spot on and the gang signs are a nice touch.

It's a great model to paint and I'm itching to paint the second one but for now it's back to terrain painting.
