Potamus - Coarseman of Rockridge

The Sump Swamp of Rockridge is a dank and dangerous place.
Dripping girders rise from its depths, their surface etched with the acidic slime trails of Sump Slugs. Strung between them lie the intricate webs of the lesser sump spider, its diminutive size more than compensated by a venom powerful enough to fell an Ogryn.
Flitting between pockets of Grappleweed, Stranglevine and Venomgorse, the heavy, stagnant air is filled with the sounds of buzzing Skeetas, some as large as a Goliath's head with a sting as keen as any stiletto blade,
Across its surface slither sump snakes large enough to swallow a man whole and leeches as long as a man's arm, their glossy black bodies bloated with blood. Where the toxicity of the sump swamp is too high even for these creatures, Sludge Jellies drift, waiting patiently to envelope and consume the unwary.
Beneath the murky surface, algae and rotting bio-matter keep everything from view, both dangerous and benign. A sudden burst of air bubbles could be a submerged girder settling or the rancid breath of a Sumpkrok on the hunt.
Despite these dangers, or maybe because of them, the Voodoo Dolls of House Escher call the Sump Swamp their home. But there is one creature that is so vile and dangerous that even the Voodoo Dolls fear it....Potamus, Coarseman of Rockridge!

Greetings Sump-Dwellers!
Work is continuing with turning the Gellarpox Infected into Necromundan Mutants.
There's no denying that the tentacled monstrosity has been touched by chaos and for a while I toyed with replacing the tentacles with a more human looking arm...but I like the model and I had visions of him acting like an Hippo in the Sump Swamps of Rockridge, bathing languidly in the 'waters' with his tentacle spread out waiting for prey to come within striking distance.

I decided to remove the horn and fill in the face peering out of his gut and that be all that Potamus would need.

Once again I experimented with Contrast paints and they worked really well on the underside of his tentacles.

The rest of his skin was painted with traditional paints and while I really want to spend more time on him, I need to get a wiggle on so that they're finished in time for our next adventure.

So if you happen to find yourself down by the Sump Swamps of Rockridge, take extra care when wading through the waters!

Until next time....may the Hive Spirits watch over you 😉

Beautiful! With a little modification's work and a great painting job, you made the model better than the original! Ottimo!

    1. Thanks mate,
I enjoyed painting this one much more than the last. I'm quickly learning that contrast paints have their uses but it's dependent upon the texture of the model.

  3. This is a great model and I really love the mottled pink colours you've chosen. Emperor only knows what the poisoning of the well did to him (assuming he is part of the story). Also tentacles. Lovely tentacles.

He's not directly connected to the Black Legacy but he won't be happy with the ramifications that it brings 😉

I'm resisting the urge to spend more time on him but the 4th Coarseman keeps glaring at my so he'll have to do...for now 😉

    1. Thanks buddy.
The Gellarpox are a lot of fun to paint and it's been interesting trying to de-Nurglify them.
