The Rise of the Regulators - Intelligence Gathering

 

WR-41-TH slid the Pict-Still across the table in front of the Tech-Monkey. 

After several minutes of scrutinising the map he nodded in a sagely manner.

"Yeah, that's the place" he declared, evidently proud of himself that he recognised it.

WR-41-TH let out a short squeal of binary code and glared at him.

"We know that's the place!" Said the Ad-Mech Specialist as he struggled to regain his composure. "What we want to know is where did you fit the communication network nodes so that we can hack them and listen in."

"Oh right, why didn't ya say say so?"

WR-41-TH continued to glare at him by way of reply.

"Here...Here...Here...err...Here...And Here" he said stabbing at the Pict-Still with his grubby finger.

"You're sure?" Inquired WR-41-TH looking at the dirty smudges smeared over the Pict-Still.

"Sure as my name's Greasy Joe" he replied with a grin.

With the Goliath Bully Grimy still recovering from his injuries back at Sanctuary, the remaining five Regulators crept forward using the derelict building known as Darkmaw for cover.

Brigitte edged to the corner of the structure and spotted an Enforcer patrolling the area. The Escher leader's Bolter rang out and the patrolman fell seriously injured. Fortunately the alarm wasn't raised.

WR-41-TH and the Delaque Psy-Gheist Oberon sprinted from the other side of Darkmaw to take cover behind a Promethium tank. Ludwig covered them, blasting an Enforcer with his Grenade Launcher but the shot was so wide of the mark that it landed harmlessly in the Sump. Fortunately the Sump muffled the sound of the explosion and the Patrolman was unaware of anything.

An Enforcer blocked WR-41-TH and Oberon's path on a gantry, giving him a commanding view of the area. Oberon sent his Psychoteric Worm ahead and focussed his mind on the Enforcers footsteps. The Enforcer stumbled and tripped over, narrowly avoiding going over the edge. He quickly jumped up and looked around to make sure no one had seen him take a tumble.

The air shimmered around Oberon as he refocussed his efforts and the unfortunate Enforcer stumbled again and fell from the ledge, Seriously Injuring himself with the fall.

Ludwig snarled the word "Heretic" through gritted teeth as he targeted an Enforcer Sniper moving along a gantry. Whether it was directed at the Delaque Psy-Gheist or the Sniper was unknown but his righteous indignation certainly helped with his aim and the Enforcer was blasted from his feet and plummeted to the ground Seriously Injured.

As an Enforcer discovered the prone body of his squad mate Brigitte stepped out of the shadows and opened up on him. The Shot flew wide and the patrolman returned fire but he obviously rushed his shot and he missed his target as well.

Howling Mad Mave charged in but her impetuous attacks were easily avoided by the Enforcer.

On the other side of the settlement, WR-41-TH charged the downed Enforcer that had taken a swan dive from the gantry and took him Out of Action.

Brigitte charged into the patrolman battling against the Orlock Wrecker, cutting him down with her Stiletto Sword.

The Enforcer heard the commotion behind him and charged into WR-41-TH. The Subjugator used the Versatile reach of his Assault Ram and smashed him to the ground wounding the Ad-Mech Regulator.

The Subjugator charged in again but WR-41-TH dodged the attacks before plunging his knife in the Enforcer's throat, taking him Out of Action.

Howling Mad Mave jumped over into the South-eastern corner of the settlement and planted a listening device. 

As Brigitte cleared the area of the bodies of the fallen Enforcers a Subjugator blasted her off of her feet with his Bolter. The Escher leader shrugged off the Flesh Wound and returned fire, dropping the Patrolman and taking him out of action.

In the North-East corner of the settlement Oberon planted another Listening Device.

Ludwig climbed the Promethium tank and made for the centre of the settlement.

In the North-West corner WR-41-TH planted the third of the Listening Devices.

Under the watchful eyes of Ludwig, Oberon planted the fourth Listening Device in centre of the settlement.

Howling Mad Mave planted the final Listening Device in the South-East corner to complete the Regulators mission!

With the mission accomplished the Regulators faded back into the shadows leaving a solitary Enforcer wondering where all of his squad mates had gone.

Well that went rather well for the Regulators! We were really lucky that the Enforcers failed to gain any reinforcements and WR-41-TH was incredibly lucky to not only last two rounds of combat against a Subjugator armed with an Assault Ram but to then take him out with his Fighting Knife!

The Regulators planted all five Listening Devices and earned 40 credits for the gang stash.

Maman Brigitte

The Escher Leader managed two kills in this game and she was instrumental in keeping the Enforcers on the back foot.

With no Medical Escort required, the Regulators are free to visit the Trading Post. Brigitte will be adding an Autopistol to her equipment and will save the rest for later. With her Experience rating growing to 10. she'll be acquiring the Skill Spring-Up to make the most of her excellent Initiative.

Ludwig

The Redemptionist failed to take anybody out directly, although his Grenade Launcher did blast the Sniper off of a gantry causing a Serious Injury. Unfortunately for Ludwig the Enforcer bled out later and denied Ludwig the kill

WR-41-TH

The Ad-Mech Specialist managed two kills this game and planted a Listening Device to earn additional Experience.

He'll be saving his credits until he can afford a Plasma Gun.

Howling Mad Mave

The Orlock Wrecker failed to kill any Enforcers but she put in a solid performance running interference and planted two Listening Devices to increase her Reputation and Experience.

Reputation: 7

Mave will be spending most of her Credits on a Rogue Doc to help her avoid any unfortunate injuries that are sure to come the impetuous Wrecker's way.

Oberon

The Delaque Psy-Ghiest was unlucky not to get a kill but he planted two Listening Devices to boost his Experience.

Reputation: 4

He badly needs a physical weapon of some sort but with only 40 credits in the Regulator's Stash and a Weapon Skill of only 5+ we might wait until we can afford a template weapon for him.

Grimy

Grimy was in recovery this game but now that he's recovered he'll be able to spend his experience on some juicy Stat increase or a Skill.

"Discovered anything?" Inquired Brigitte.

"Some" replied Oberon as he lifted the headset away from one side of his head. "Whatever it is that the Enforcers are up to, they are close to completing it."

"Any idea on what 'It' is?"

"The phrase Black Protocol is mentioned, although what that refers to is unclear." Continued the Delaque Prospect. 

'Why does that seem familiar?' thought Brigitte.

"There's talk of a shipment arriving from Hive Primus in the next couple of cycles but everything else is just patrol deployments and settlement containment."

"Keep listening...and see if you can find out when and where this shipment will be delivered." 

"Anythin..."

But the Escher leader had already turned away with a troubling look on her face.
